Complete guide to creating, running, and managing quiz sessions.

Session Lifecycle

A quiz session goes through three states: Waiting → Active → Finished

Creating a Session

1. Navigate to Sessions

   Go to Admin Panel → Sessions → Create Session

2. Configure Basic Settings

3. Configure Advanced Settings

4. Create and Get PIN

   Click Create to generate a unique 6-digit PIN.

Session States

Waiting

• Session is created but not started
• Players can join using the PIN
• Admin sees the lobby with connected players
• Display screen shows “Waiting for players…”

Active

• Questions are being presented
• Players are submitting answers
• Leaderboard updates in real-time
• Late join may be allowed

Finished

• All questions completed or manually ended
• Final leaderboard displayed
• Session can be restarted or archived
• Analytics become available

Timer Modes: - Manual: Admin clicks “End Question” when ready - Auto: Question ends automatically when timer expires

Managing Participants

Participant Views

Simple Mode:

• Nickname only
• Quick join process
• Best for casual events

Detailed Mode:

• Nickname + optional fields
• Email, department, etc.
• Best for corporate training

Removing Participants

Admins can remove participants who:

• Have inappropriate nicknames
• Are disrupting the session
• Joined by mistake

Caution

Removed participants cannot rejoin with the same nickname.

Best Practices

Before the Session

• ✅ Test questions with a small group first
• ✅ Prepare backup questions in case of issues
• ✅ Check display screen visibility
• ✅ Have the PIN ready to share

During the Session

• ✅ Wait for most participants before starting
• ✅ Read questions aloud for large rooms
• ✅ Use time adjustments if needed
• ✅ Show leaderboard between questions

After the Session

• ✅ Review analytics for insights
• ✅ Export results if needed
• ✅ Archive or delete old sessions
• ✅ Gather feedback from participants

Troubleshooting

Players Can’t Join

Wrong PIN	Verify PIN on admin dashboard

Network issues	Check WiFi/internet connection
Browser issues	Try incognito mode or different browser

Answers Not Registering

Issue	Solution
Connection lost	Player should refresh page
Time expired	Answer was submitted too late
Server lag	Check backend health

Display Not Updating

WebSocket disconnected	Refresh display screen
Wrong session	Verify PIN in display URL
Browser issue	Use Chrome/Edge for best results
